International opera course 2022

The application deadline is 15st May 2022

Oper Oder Spree is an international opera course founded in 1991 by Prof. Kammersängerin Jutta Schlegel. Our mission is to give young artists from Germany and around the world the opportunity to gain practical stage experience that complements their respective training programmes. This opera course is well-known outside Germany and every year welcomes participants from many European countries as well as the USA, Asia and Australia, in some cases as representatives of their music schools or colleges.

Team

Our team is made up of an impressive array of professionals working in the field of opera and concert singing. Our two renowned vocal coaches Snežana Nena Brzaković (MA, opera and concert singer), and Bernhard Hansky (opera singer) along with pianists Insa Bernds, Alexej Ilenko and Evgeny A. Nikiforov supervise musical rehearsals and give individual singing coaching to support and challenge participants in fulfilling their potential. The opera director Lars Franke lends his wide experience in the preparation of the production 'Oper in der Scheune' and gives individual scenic coaching sessions. The course participants will also have the chance to receive personalised career advice. The organisation of the opera gala with the Preussisches Kammerorchester is lead and conducted by Vinzenz Weissenburger (Staatsoper Berlin).

Lessons / Training

The international opera course has gained recognition for offering a combination of one to one and group sessions with practical performance experience in a professional context to a large audience. We also offer stagecraft and interpretation classes alongside courses in breathing technique and movement as well as individual audition training and advice with application processes.
