International Opera Course 2023

The International Opera Course 2023 will take place from 09.08. to 28.08.2023 at Beeskow Castle.
Founded in 1991 by Prof. Jutta Schlegel, the course aims to support the training of young artists from Germany and the rest of the world and to provide them with opportunities for encounters and practical stage experience. The course has distinguished itself in particular by offering concert and performance practice under professional conditions and in front of a large audience in addition to daily individual and group lessons. Furthermore, correpetition, scenic and interpretation lessons, role studies, courses in breathing technique and physical training as well as professional development coaching with individual counselling and audition training are part of the programme. The timetable also includes work with an experienced conductor and orchestra. The course content is taught by the lecturers and accompanists in German, English, Russian, Spanish, Lithuanian and Serbian.

Team
With the opera and concert singer Snežana Nena Brzaković and the opera singer Bernhard Hansky, the International Opera Course is supported by experienced and renowned vocal instructors. Together with the three lecturers and accompanists Insa Bernds, Alexej Ilenko and Evgeny A. Nikiforov, they are responsible for the musical and vocal instruction and support the participants in perfecting and expanding their skills.
Prof. Lars Franke shares his wide-ranging experience as a trained opera director both in the production of “Opera in the Barn” and in individual coaching and group acting classes. Experienced conductor Vinzenz Weissenburger (“Staatsoper Berlin”) will assist participants in preparing and conducting the Festive Opera Gala (with the Prussian Chamber Orchestra).
Course period/organisation
Kurszeitraum: 09.08.-28.08.2023
Arrival and start of the course will be on 09 August 2023, departure on Monday 28 August 2023. Travel costs will not be covered. Accommodation will be provided in the Bootshaus Beeskow (Uferstr. 18, 15848 Beeskow), if and when necessary in shared rooms with breakfast. Cooking facilities for self-catering are also available.
Competition: The best artists will be awarded the Grand Prix of the Oder-Spree district (1,000 euros), the interpretation prize of the Sparkasse Oder-Spree (500 euros) and the audience prize of the town of Beeskow (250 euros). The selection of the winners will be made by the lecturers together with the organiser.
