Evgeny A. Nikiforov

Evgeny A. Nikiforov began his studies at the Technical School for Culture and Art in Miass/Russia. In 2000 he graduated with distinction as a concert pianist, accompanist, chamber music pianist and piano teacher at the State Ural Conservatory “Mussorgsky” (Ekaterinburg).

This was followed by the Concert Exam (2004) and the song accompaniment exam (2006) at the Hochschule für Musik Köln. Since 2006, the freelance pianist has lived and worked in Berlin and the surrounding area as a piano teacher, accompanist and chamber musician. Since 2009 he has held a teaching position at the Berlin University of the Arts, where he currently accompanies the voice classes of Prof. Albert Pesendorfer, Prof. María José Montiel and Prof. Joshua Whitener.

Since 2013, he has also worked as a répétiteur at the International Opera Course Oper Oder Spree, which takes place annually in summer in Beeskow. He regularly participates as a répétiteur in the Rheinsberg Music Academy and in the German National Singing Competition. In spring 2019 Evgeny Nikiforov made his debut as pianist and performer of the composer Aleksander von Zemlinsky in the prologue to his opera “Der Zwerg” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin (ML: D.Runnicles; I: T. Kratzer). The DVD of the celebrated production was nominated for the coveted US Grammy music award in the category “Best Opera Recording” in 2021.
