Bernhard Hansky

Born in Eisenhüttenstadt, the baritone Bernhard Hansky recently appeared as PING in “Turandot” at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin in 2022 under the musical direction of Zubin Mehta. Permanent engagements have taken him to the Hamburg State Opera and the Semperoper Dresden, where he can be heard in all the great baritone roles.

In addition, he has made guest appearances at the Salzburg Easter Festival, the Teatro Pavarotti in Modena, Tallinn, Copenhagen, Brno and Prague, among others, where he successfully performed Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” in 2016 at the Prague Estates Theatre, the home of the work’s premiere.

He regularly works with conductors such as Christian Thielemann, Kent Nagano, Alessandro DeMarchi and Omer Meir Wellber.

The winner of the Bundeswettbewerb für Gesang was a member of the opera studio of the Komische Oper Berlin from 2012 to 2014. After his stage debut with Oper Oder Spree in 2007, he began his vocal studies at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin with Hanno Müller-Brachmann in 2008. Master classes led him to Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Angelika Kirchschlager and Brigitte Fassbaender.

The baritone is also in demand as a concert singer and regularly participates in song recitals and oratorios, most recently in “The Creation” under the direction of Václav Luks and in motets with the Thomanerchor in Leipzig. His CDs include the Danish opera “Peters Bryllyp” and the solo CD “Cantates Spritituelles” with works by Rene Drouart de Bousset. The Hamburg performance of Offenbach’s “The Tales of Hoffmann” with Bernhard Hansky in the double role as Hermann & Schlemihl was released on DVD and Bluray in 2022.

Since 2019 Bernhard Hansky has been a vocal coach at Oper Oder Spree and recently created the podcast “Parlando”, in which he interviews well-known personalities of the opera world.
